Missoni x Holt Renfrew

Missoni is rightfully so, one of my favourite brands. Margherita Missoni is rightfully so, one of my favourite women. She makes cool hippie look easy and I simply can’t get enough of that iconic zigzag print and the acid-trip abstract patterns. I was delighted when the tweets begun that this November, Missoni would partner with Holt Renfrew on a limited-edition pair of M Missoni plush toys in support of OrphanAid Africa. The stuffed bear and elephants are being released JUST in time for the holidays. Coincidence?

Collaborations always add a peaked interest to both parties but it’s great when the reason behind them is selfless and charitable. This isn’t Margherita’s first philanthropic rodeo – just last year she launched M Missoni for OrphanAid Africa . This was an affordable capsule collection of snappy zigzag-print pieces ranging from trench coats to tote bags. She wins the fashion designer humanitarian award – conveniently awarded by myself – for skipping on gifts from guests at her wedding this summer and asking each couple to donate to the African foundation instead. A mere 80K was donated on ‘their’ behalf.

The beauty behind it is that these items make very cool collector pieces. I had to have one. When I arrived at HR to pick up my elephant, the size of them was disappointing. After all, they retail for $50 each. Clearly, I got over it fast. I told myself ‘Courtney, it’s for the Africans’. There you have it.

Have you had a chance to pick up your Missoni x HR plush toy? They make great gifts, collector items… or paper weights.

x Courtney
