The third of four fashion weeks just wrapped up in Milan, Italy. MFW is one of the most interesting for me, as some of my most desired and loved brands and design houses will show. Missoni is a vibrant brand whos signature design is recognized by its bohemian accessories and knitwear in zigzags and stripes, bright colours, eccentric patterns and abstract florals.
It can’t be easy for Angela Missoni to recreate and re-interpret at least 4 times a year, the brand identity that her parents established for the design house 59 years ago. I am hoping for big things next season in celebration of Missoni’s outstanding 60 years.
As visually stimulating as the brand already is, the SS13 show took it to a new level of 3d fashionable illusion. Layers of sheer organza placed overtop printed knits created eye appealing effects. Colours like coral, oranges and pinks, forest greens, royal blues and black with a touch of ombre were shown. I always enjoy pieces on the catwalk that are wearable, like really great flirty party dresses and cool casual wear.
Some might say Angela delivered a show that pushed the boundaries from Missoni’s usual knitwear for more of an earthy look but I see her staying true to the roots with short skirts and appealing textures.

Post Thought: My son loves stroller rides in the Missoni – I would bet the rainbow striped canopy is stimulating for him, plus it looks cool.
