NYFW – Alexander Wang

As it was anticipated, Eastern storm Nemo did his dirty damage on NYFW. On Friday, Marc Jacobs was ultimately forced to postpone his catwalk show until closing day – this Thursday. Marc and his production team felt the wrath having shoes, accessories and some fabrics delayed, due to that cute,little,fishy prick named Nemo.

Thankfully, for Alexander Wang – and us impatient non-invitees waiting to live stream, the show did go on. His development of inventing unique, thoughtful ways to stay warm next Autumn was outstanding – designing with his familiar, twisted sportswear feel and eccentric architecture in seams.

You could say, Wang overtly wanged out. This guy has become internationally renowned – and it couldn’t be more obvious why. His signature line was a positive reassurance that he is still as much focused on it as he begins his new “doubted” role at Balenciaga. Let’s be real here, his concept and theme of this show was protection and boxing. Coincidence? No way.

Can you picture furry elbow length mittens, oversized fur collars, fur boxing mitts, shearling, mohair, alpaca and sleek elements of perfectly placed leather? It’s a rock star vision. Fur activists and Peta representatives are already gearing up for a season of animal use overload especially in casual street-wear. Wang isn’t afraid of the verbal abuse. This show was cool luxury, entirely.
