Emerald Green Overload – 2013
Every year Pantone – “the colour experts”, forecast a colour that makes it’s mark in many industries… or so they say. It’s titled the ‘Colour of the Year’ and each year it’s different and it typically has a cheesy name too.
Don’t believe me? Tangerine Tango and Honeysuckle were the COTY forecasts for ’11 and ’12. I don’t remember seeing much of either of those – is it a forecast or a guess hope it will catch on. I bet the Pantone team kicked their own asses after not naming Oxblood the COTY for 2012.
Feast your eyes on the COTY for 2013. Emerald Green. Nail technicians and fashion stylists will soon be bombarded with requests for the colour that represents healing and unity and there is nothing cheesy about it. Pantone 17-5641 is described as a lovely, radiant, lush green. It is exactly that. It truly is a stunning colour against your skin.
How do we incorporate this luminous, jewel-toned shade into our lives. Easily – in our beauty regimes, our home decor, our fashion and style choices and our everyday lifestyle; like a coffee mug or a cell phone case. Not because we want to, because its the COTY! We have too. insert sarcasm here
Wait. A coffee mug? You know that Pantone cashes in on their “forecasts”. They’ve begun making mugs and cellphone cases with the swatch on them… because we need those. Hey kids, here’s a mug with what was supposed to be the colour of the year!

Sephora is collabing with Pantone to release a limited edition Pantone-Emerald line of makeup this March. Pantone is of course, a worldwide standard for colour. Let’s see how they do this year.

If I should paint my fingernails green, oh and it just so happens that I do paint them green… Well if anyone should ask me why, I say “I think its pretty… I THINK ITS PRETTY!”
Good answer!!
Ugggghhh!!! That shade of pantone is soooooo 1980′s!!!!! It was all over the place in 1988!!! Didn’t like it then and don’t like it now. I do however LOVE the dark greens, the forest greens. I’ve seen a few “celebrities” wearing that color. We’ll have to wait for the award show season to see if it turns up.
